Using a natural should be considered if you do not want to rely on over the counter medications or prescription medications excessively.  They offer great relief without the adverse side effects that medications can potentially bring. Here are some natural sinusitis treatments that have reportedly helped others in obtaining relief:

- Hot liquids.  Drinking hot liquids can help to keep the cilia (tiny hairs) inside of your nose moist, so that they can wash the mucous out of your nose more quickly.  Excellent ideas for hot liquids include chicken soup and herbal teas.  Stay away from choosing coffee, however.

- Irrigation.  Since ancient times, people have irrigated their sinuses with saltwater to help reduce their sinus symptoms.  You can find many saltwater nasal sprays already mixed at the store or you can make your own. A reduction in the inflammation of your nasal cavities makes it easier for you to breathe.

- Aromatherapy.  Breathing in steam made from water combined with different herbs can help to reduce the symptoms of sinusitis as well.  Some of the herbs that may be used include eucalyptus or menthol oil.  All you have to do is to drop a few drops into hot water and then breathe the vapors in.  Horseradish or Japanese wasabi mustard can also be used.  By ingesting them, you will get the vapors inside of your body to help make your breathing easier.

- Elevate.  By raising up the head of your bed or your pillows, you can help the mucus drain downward.  This helps prevent congestion to your nose and head while you sleep.  This tip alone can help you sleep much better

- Rest.  Rest is a necessity if your body is not working as it should.  By spending the weekend in bed relaxing, you can help to make your symptoms decrease.  Rest naturally gives the body a chance to heal and gain strength.

A natural can help you reduce your various runny nose symptoms in a relatively safe manner. It should be used first before hitting your medicine cabinet every time you have a sinus allergy going on.

A can also be found in homeopathic medicine.  Homeopathy is an alternative form of medicine.  It essentially involves giving you (the patient) minute doses of  treatments that produce the same symptoms as the ones that you are trying to relieve.

The motive of this is to stimulate your body’s own natural immune system to help fight off your allergy symptoms. However, do not expect instant reliefs. A homeopathy treatment is a gradual treatment since it only involves minute doses.  Your homeopathic practitioner needs to monitor your results every step of the way.

Homeopathic medicine is also subject to controvery. For instance, many have questioned if long term usage even of small amounts of substances can also trigger an inflammatory response.  It is often criticised as a medical practice that is not proven.

Still, there are enough reports that homeopathy is effective as a natural allergy treatment. In the European countries, homeopathy is comparatively more well recognised as an acceptable form of treatment.  In addition, a few homeopathic companies have developed water-based homeopathic medicines, supposedly most suitable for allergy symptoms.

Natural allergy treatment using homeopathics can include:

- Blood Root.  Blood root can be helpful in treating allergy symptoms as chronic runny nose, headache, facial pain, coughing, or a dry throat.

- Cevadilla Seed.  Cebadilla seed is excellent or sneezing, dry nose, red eyes, pressure, dry coughs, and a sore throat.

- Eyebright.  This homeopathic remedy is a great treatment for the symptoms of a watery nasal discharge and watering eyes.  Patients who experience their most severe symptoms while lying down, in the morning, or while they are outside in the air will be aided the most by this remedy.

- Histaminum.  Histaminum is usually given in small amounts to help the body fight off the allergies and the associated symptoms.

- Arbor Vitae.  Arbor vitae is helpful in treating a green nasal discharge, headache, runny nose, and sinusitis that is associated with allergies.

- Selenium.  Selenium helps to stimulate the immune system response and protect cellular membranes.

- Green Tea Extract.  Green tea is helpful in fighting off the allergy symptoms.

Of course, there are far more homeopathic remedies than those that are listed here and that can be used to help treat allergy symptoms.  If you need more information, do consult a practitioner to see if this form of natural allergy treatment is for you. You may be pleasantly amazed at the amount of relief that it brings to you!
