Potential Allergens In Cockroaches
Beware of cockroaches as potential allergens. Allergens found in their bodies, saliva and feces can be inhaled. The first place to start is the kitchen, where they are most likely to convene.
They feed on your leftovers. So be sure to keep your kitchen counters, floors, and skinks free of any food particles or crumbs. Do not eat in every part of your home. It is best to confine all meals to be taken in the kitchen or dining area. Check sinks and refrigerators for leaks. Remove any dirty rags and damp paper products, like newspapers and cardboard containers.
If you find cockroaches in your home, then sprinkle some boric acid around the infested areas to prevent them from coming back. Mix one quarter cup clorine bleach in 1 gallon of water to clean kitchen surfaces. Do note that both methods mentioned will not kill the cockroaches.
If they start to infest, then extermination is the only answer. Chemical approaches are not necessarily 100% effective. Hence, prevention is best. This may require you to be very diligent that there are no leftover scrapes of food or crumbs while you munch on your food. Always pick them up immediately if a slip should happen.
