When you have mucus congestion as a result of sinus allergy, try grating some horseradish root. Horseradish root can be pungent and you may not find it pleasant. Here is the home remedy recipe to make it more palatable:
1 teaspoon of freshly grated horseradish
1 glass of warm water
A teaspoon of honey
If you still find it hard to consume this drink, you can use it as a gargle. The honey should make the horseradish stick to the back of your throat. Then, by reflex, the horseradish stimulates your nose and lungs to produce more mucus. By spitting and blowing your nose, you then expel the mucus that has been clogging up your nose.
Do not eat horseradish root if you have stomach inflammation problems or kidney disorders.
