You can avoid allergic rhinitis symptoms by cutting out diary and diary related products, as advised by Gordon Jackson, a naturopathic doctor.

Dairy is a very common food allergy. It is much easier to avoid as compared to airborne allergens.

Here are the steps of what you can do:

1. Cut out all diary products including milk, chocolate, ice cream, cakes, cheese or just about anything that contains milk as an ingredient.

2. Continue with this elimination diet for a period of 6 weeks.

3. During this elimination period, you may consider other sources of calcium. You may also want to consider consuming soy or rice milk.

4. After 6 weeks, try dairy again.

5. Observe for any allergic rhinitis symptoms. These include runny nose and extra mucus. You may also experience achiness and tiredness within 72 hours after consuming dairy.

6. If you have symptoms, then consider giving up dairy and all dairy related products for good.

Tip: Even if you do not have classic symptoms of , you may want to reduce your intake of dairy products as they are known to create mucus in your body; thereby contributing to congestion and respiratory diseases.
