A natural allergy treatment can also be found in homeopathic medicine. Homeopathy is an alternative form of medicine. It essentially involves giving you (the patient) minute doses of treatments that produce the same symptoms as the ones that you are trying to relieve.
The motive of this natural allergy treatment is to stimulate your body’s own natural immune system to help fight off your allergy symptoms. However, do not expect instant reliefs. A homeopathy treatment is a gradual treatment since it only involves minute doses. Your homeopathic practitioner needs to monitor your results every step of the way.
Homeopathic medicine is also subject to controvery. For instance, many have questioned if long term usage even of small amounts of substances can also trigger an inflammatory response. It is often criticised as a medical practice that is not proven.
Still, there are enough reports that homeopathy is effective as a natural allergy treatment. In the European countries, homeopathy is comparatively more well recognised as an acceptable form of treatment. In addition, a few homeopathic companies have developed water-based homeopathic medicines, supposedly most suitable for allergy symptoms.
Natural allergy treatment using homeopathics can include:
- Blood Root. Blood root can be helpful in treating allergy symptoms as chronic runny nose, headache, facial pain, coughing, or a dry throat.
- Cevadilla Seed. Cebadilla seed is excellent or sneezing, dry nose, red eyes, pressure, dry coughs, and a sore throat.
- Eyebright. This homeopathic remedy is a great treatment for the symptoms of a watery nasal discharge and watering eyes. Patients who experience their most severe symptoms while lying down, in the morning, or while they are outside in the air will be aided the most by this remedy.
- Histaminum. Histaminum is usually given in small amounts to help the body fight off the allergies and the associated symptoms.
- Arbor Vitae. Arbor vitae is helpful in treating a green nasal discharge, headache, runny nose, and sinusitis that is associated with allergies.
- Selenium. Selenium helps to stimulate the immune system response and protect cellular membranes.
- Green Tea Extract. Green tea is helpful in fighting off the allergy symptoms.
Of course, there are far more homeopathic remedies than those that are listed here and that can be used to help treat allergy symptoms. If you need more information, do consult a practitioner to see if this form of natural allergy treatment is for you. You may be pleasantly amazed at the amount of relief that it brings to you!

Lactose

Like me, you may find yourself find themselves having various lactose intolerance symptoms after drinking milk. These symptoms include diarrhea, bloating and stomach pain.
Not knowing any better, I have often use the term milk allergy to mean lactose intolerance. I have since found that this is a common mistake and that it is important to make the distinction between the two. A milk allergy can cause far more severe reactions but not a case of lactose intolerance. When consulting with your doctor, you should use the correct term to describe your condition to minimise confusion.
Lactose is a sugar found naturally in milk. It is caused by a shortage of the enzyme lactase, which is needed to break down lactose for absorption into the bloodstream. What happens if you lack this enzyme? Lactose cannot be absorbed properly from the gut, causing you symptoms such as bloating and diarrhea.
Experiencing lactose intolerance symptoms is more common in Asian communities where milk is not part of a typical adult diet. It has been found that up to 75% of the black African community and more than 90% of the Asian community are intolerant to lactose. Being a Chinese, I have found this to be largely true; at least where my parents are concerned - most of us do not drink milk (except for soya milk) on a regular basis out of habit and also, intolerance.
Other causes of lactose intolerance include digestive diseases, or injuries to the small intestine. A lactose intolerance can also be inherited but hereditary reasons are said to be rare.
If you suffer from lactose intolerance symptoms, you may be wondering if drinking cow’s milk or goat’s milk make a difference. Some people have found goat’s milk to be tolerable than cow’s milk. However, for those with a true milk allergy or lactose intolerance and an extremely sensitive gut, goat’s milk is not a suitable alternative to cow’s milk either.
Symptoms of lactose intolerance can be reduced by avoiding having lactose in your diet. However, small amounts can be taken if you are an adult, without any adverse reactions.
